How you can help Aloe High School

If you’d like to make a donation to help learners whose families can’t afford basic necessities, this could be a way to do it.

When Mr Wertheim put out a call to action for parents to get their kids’ school supplies, the admins of the closed Aloe Secondary School Facebook group received numerous requests from alumni, asking how they could help.

The easiest and most convenient way was to donate cash, which resulted in a challenge because there are several governance issues involved in the school receiving money as donations.

Thankfully, former principal Keith Damon stepped in to save the day so to speak. He agreed to open a bank account in his name with conditions for how it would be used to serve the school.

The account is administered by Mr Damon but an admin group will have monthly oversight to see the income of funds.

Mr Damon has also destroyed the bank card to disable cash withdrawals.

So how does the process work? You can pay in whatever amount you’d like into the bank account. The details are:

BANK: Capitec
NAME: Keith CG Damon
ACCOUNT TYPE: Savings
ACCOUNT NUMBER: 1753043881
BRANCH CODE: 470010

The school will have access to the donated funds via a submission process. They would submit a request for funding, along with a motivation, to the oversight admin group for approval before any funds are released.

Mr Damon in action.

The initial round of funding will be used for hardcover books for learners who aren’t in a position to buy their own.

Later funding will be used for whatever the school needs. And as we know, in this day and age, there’s always something needed.

So if you can, please open your hearts and wallets to help the school in the best way you can.
